The Garfitt Law Partnership LLP is owned by David Garfitt and Sally Robinson. Read below to find out more about their qualifications and experience.

David Garfitt

David was born in Norfolk and grew up in Lincolnshire moving to Yorkshire in 1990. David qualified as a Solicitor in 1991 and has always practised in firms with a strong private client and agricultural client base, having been a partner at Powell & Young (now Harrowells), Pocklington and Langleys Solicitors LLP, York.

He is regarded as a leader in his field, technically very able and with specialist expertise in private client and agricultural law. David also has a wealth of experience and knowledge of other areas of legal work which overlap private client work, for example, residential and agricultural property, commercial and family work, which enables him to provide all-round sound, commercial and pragmatic advice.

David has been a member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) since 2007.
Under Sheriff of North Yorkshire 

David was appointed the Under Sheriff of North Yorkshire in 2013 and has been re-appointed to that position every year since. He performs a supporting role for the High Sheriff of the County and, amongst his other duties, has responsibility for organising the North Eastern Circuit’s Annual Legal Service at York Minster.

Sally Robinson

Sally was born and brought up in Harrogate and educated at Christ’s College, Cambridge. Having trained at City of London firm, Slaughter and May, she qualified as a Solicitor in 1989 and moved back to Yorkshire in 1991, first to Booth & Co (now Addleshaw Goddard) in Leeds spending 6 years carrying out commercial property work and then to Denison Till (now Lupton Fawcett) in York where she spent 15 years as a partner and head of the property department. Latterly, she has headed the residential property department for a firm in Harrogate.

Sally’s roots are firmly in Yorkshire where she has built up a loyal client base acting in a wide range of property transactions, both commercial and residential, often dealing with highly complex and complicated matters. Her experience and technical expertise are second to none. Sally has acted for many farming and rural clients handling their property transactions or providing specialist property advice, whether they are running a farming business or just looking for a rural retreat.
